The Invacare Rea Azalea Max Wheelchair is a great reclining and tilt in space wheelchair for those wanting maximum comfort and support.

The Invacare Rea Azalea is a great recline & tilt wheelchair choice for those wanting maximum comfort at all times – and it’s available for purchase.  Its tilt in space and reclining seat system allows you to alter the seat position to suit the user’s needs.

These wheelchairs are an excellent choice for those who are likely to be spending long periods of time in a wheelchair.  This is because the functionality provided with these wheelchairs allows for the user to remain comfortable at all times whilst relieving pressure where needed.

A seating system which allows you to alter the position to suit the users needs, adjustable in height width and shape to support a wide range of body shapes

The Flex 3 backrest on the Invacare Rea Azalea Max is multi adjustable in height, width and shape accommodating and supporting a wide range of body shapes. Its biomechanical positioning hinge follows the users natural back movement when adjusting the backrest angle. Combining this with the tilt function and dual stability system helps to prevent Decubitus thanks to its non-friction re-body positioning.

Offers excellent driving characteristics, available in transit or self-propelled models

The Rea Azalea provides excellent driving characteristics, available as either a small rear wheel transit version for those wanting to be pushed in the chair or available as a large rear wheel self-propelled for the more active user to propel themselves.

Condition of products to purchase

Our products that are available to purchase come in two categories:

New – Product is brand new and never been used.

Fleet – Product has been used but has been serviced and is in good condition. By choosing a Fleet product for your purchase you will benefit from a reduced purchase price.

Types of Delivery

Two delivery options are available for products purchased from us:

Standard Delivery – Your order will arrive with one of our delivery drivers between 8am-6pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), approximately 5-7 days after the order has been placed. You will be contacted by the office the day before your delivery is due to arrive with confirmation of a time slot.

It is important to note that with this type of delivery it is a “kerbside” delivery which means that the driver will unload your item(s) from the van but will not take the item into the property or set up the item. Some of the items can be very heavy and you may need to arrange assistance with moving and setting up the equipment once it has been delivered.

Our standard delivery service only applies to England and Wales. Areas outside of this may be available but would need to be discussed with our customer service team on 0800 111 6234 who will be able to provide a quote for this service.

Engineered Delivery – An engineered delivery includes a fully trained delivery driver delivering your products and will set up/assemble your product along with demonstrating how to use it correctly. Finally, any packaging is taken away so you don’t have to worry about disposal or recycling.

Our engineered delivery service only applies to England and Wales. Areas outside of this maybe available but would need to be discussed with our customer service team on 0800 111 6234 who will be able to provide a quote for this service.

Costs

There are two different costs associated with these types of deliveries:

Standard Delivery – Is free on all purchases above £40

Engineered Delivery – This cost is calculated based on the first part of the delivery postcode. By adding your chosen product to the basket at the beginning of the checkout process you will be able to access delivery cost and the delivery options that are available to you. There are set “standard” delivery days depending on your postcode, if these days are not convenient you have the option to select “other” day for delivery this includes same day, next day and weekend options. These are charged at a different rate to the standard delivery days.

Collection

We also offer collection from our premises if you would prefer. Collection is free of charge, but it does need to be arranged with our customer service team beforehand. Collection is available Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm (excluding bank holidays). Call our customer service team on 0800 111 6234 to arrange your collection slot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between tilt-in-space and recline on a wheelchair like this?

Tilt-in-space moves the whole seat and backrest together as one unit, keeping the hips and knees at a fixed angle while shifting weight onto the back. Recline instead opens the angle between the seat and backrest independently, letting the user lie back further while the seat stays level. The Invacare Rea Azalea Max offers both functions together, so the seating position can be adjusted for comfort or combined for pressure relief and postural support throughout the day.

Who is a tilt-in-space and reclining wheelchair suitable for?

People who spend long periods sitting in a wheelchair, or who are at higher risk of pressure sores, tend to benefit most from tilt-in-space and reclining features. These functions allow regular changes in body position without requiring the user to move themselves, which helps redistribute pressure away from the hips and lower back. This makes the design a common choice for users with limited mobility, poor trunk control, or conditions that make regular repositioning difficult.

Can the Invacare Rea Azalea Max be self-propelled?

The Invacare Rea Azalea Max is available in two drive formats, a small rear wheel transit version for users who are pushed by a carer, and a large rear wheel self-propelled version for more active users who want to move the chair themselves. Both versions include the same tilt-in-space, recline, and adjustable seating functions. Mobility Hire can help you choose the right format based on the user's strength and daily routine.

Is this wheelchair suitable for bariatric users?

This wheelchair supports users up to 180kg (28 stone), with a seat width that extends to 61cm and adjustable armrests, leg rests, and backrest to accommodate a wider range of body shapes. The Flex 3 backrest and dual stability system are designed to maintain support and comfort at this higher weight capacity, rather than just scaling up a standard frame. Anyone unsure whether this model matches their measurements can call our team on 0800 111 6234 for sizing advice before ordering.
