Why might I need a Manual Adult Wheelchair?
Rental adult manual wheelchairs are ideal for those who have just come out of hospital, or are in hospital or care homes, and require seating which can be either wheeled themselves or pushed by an attendant. These hire wheelchairs often have adjustable footplates and elevating legrests for those who require it. Hire wheelchairs such as these also incorporate transit wheelchairs, which are often used in hospitals and airports, allowing for an attendant to push the user rather than the user having to push themselves.
Rental manual wheelchairs are an excellent choice for adults with limited mobility who are still able to wheel themselves or have an attendant to push them and do need to sit in the chair all day.
Where can I use a Manual Adult Wheelchair?
Adult Manual Wheelchairs, sometimes known as transit wheelchairs, are found in a variety of places. They can be used in care homes, hospitals and private homes along with other care environments. Rental manual adult wheelchairs such as these can be used along pavements and around the home.
Is an Adult Manual Wheelchair suitable for my needs?
If you have recently come out of hospital, have an injury or require a mobility aid for a shorter period of time then a rental adult manual wheelchair could be ideal for your needs. They’re also a great choice if you have enough upper body strength to wheel yourself. If you require something for a longer period of time you may wish to look at our range of tilt and recline wheelchairs.
We carry a carefully selected range of adult manual wheelchairs to ensure we have a product to meet most individuals’ particular requirements.
When looking at wheelchairs there are a few things to consider to make sure you select the right one for you, we have listed some of these below.
Are you going to push yourself in the wheelchair or is someone going to push you?
If you are wanting to push yourself then you need to look at our self-propelled wheelchairs with the large rear wheels. If someone is going to be pushing you then perhaps a transit wheelchair with smaller rear wheels would be better suited.
How often are you going to be using it?
If you are wanting something to use for extended periods of time everyday or are wanting something lightweight to transport then our comfortable deluxe lightweight wheelchair could be the one for you. If you are just wanting something for occasional use between the house and the car or a short trip in to a shop then we offer a simple basic manual wheelchair or a transfer wheelchair.
How comfortable is a manual wheelchair?
Different conditions and disabilities may require you to look at a manual wheelchair with suspension or tilt & recline. The suspension can help stop you feeling all the bumps and knocks when travelling over rougher ground, this is especially useful for anyone with back problems. Our tilt & recline wheelchairs offer different seating positions to ensure maximum comfort and support for the person sitting in the wheelchair.
Do you need to transport it?
Vast majority of our manual wheelchairs can be folded or dismantled to make it easier for transportation. Some models are lighter weight than others and fold to a more compact size so these are always worth thinking about when making your selection. Should you need any advice on this our friendly team are on hand to chat over the telephone or online.
Can I sit in the wheelchair while using it in a vehicle?
If you would like to use the wheelchair whilst travelling in a vehicle, otherwise known as occupied transportation, then you will need to look at hiring one of our many models that have been crash tested. Looking in the “Overview” section of each wheelchair will let you know if that specific model has been crash tested. If you are unsure or would like any further information then please get in contact with one of our helpful team and they can point you in the right direction.
