Overview and product promise

To begin with, the Apollo 8 Dynamic Alternating Mattress brings reliable alternating pressure therapy to care homes, hospitals and home care in a user-friendly package.

Built for people at very high risk of pressure damage and for those with existing tissue breakdown, the Apollo 8 combines a full replacement system with figure-of-eight alternating cells, a quiet, efficient pump and a generous 31 stone weight capacity; together, these features deliver comfortable, effective pressure relief and, ultimately, long-term skin support.

Skin health and comfort benefits

First and foremost, alternating therapy on the Apollo 8 gently changes pressure points around the body to encourage microcirculation and reduce prolonged loading on vulnerable tissues. In addition, humidity management and a vapour-permeable multi-stretch PU cover help to reduce skin maceration while limiting shear and friction; therefore, the mattress design supports both prevention and management of pressure ulcers.

Moreover, high-frequency welded seams and a launderable cover contribute to good infection control, and likewise the quiet pump and straightforward controls make daily use less stressful for both users and carers.

Who this mattress is for

The Apollo 8 is ideal for people who are bedbound or have very limited mobility, individuals at high risk of developing pressure sores and users with current tissue damage.

Similarly, it is also a strong choice for carers, nurses and clinical teams who need a dependable alternating pressure mattress that balances clinical performance with practical usability and easy handling.

Therapy in action

Air fills the figure-of-eight cells on a timed cycle and, as a result, the cells inflate and deflate in sequence, thereby shifting pressure away from the same points on the body. Consequently, this gentle alternating movement helps to stimulate circulation and protect skin integrity.

Furthermore, the pump is designed to be quiet and easy to use so that carers can set and monitor therapy without complex training; in addition, adjustable weight settings allow the mattress to be tuned to individual needs for effective pressure redistribution.

Where it works best

Furthermore, humidity management, together with a vapour permeable multi-stretch PU cover, helps reduce skin maceration while limiting shear and friction. Consequently the mattress design supports both the prevention and the management of pressure ulcers, offering reliable skin protection for users at risk.

Compatibility and practical features

Designed to fit a wide range of profiling beds and healthcare frames, the Apollo 8 includes cable management loops to keep tubing neat and a quick CPR deflate function for emergency mattress collapse. Moreover, external air filters are easy to access for routine replacement, and the controls include clear audible and visual alarms to help caregivers maintain safe operation and responsiveness.

Care and upkeep

The Apollo 8 is built to be straightforward to look after. For example, the multi-stretch PU cover wipes clean quickly, can be removed for laundering at high temperatures to meet hygiene needs and is resilient to regular use.

Additionally, regular replacement of external filters and simple inspections of welded seams and cover integrity will help the mattress perform reliably over time, while also supporting infection control measures in busy care settings.
